The 35-year-old author and podcast host was named the winner of the ITV reality series on Friday (04.12.20), after she beat fellow finalists Jordan North and Vernon Kay to being named the very first Queen of the Castle following the show’s move to Gwrych Castle in North Wales.

Speaking as she sat on her throne for the first time, she said: “I can’t believe it! People have literally picked up their phones and voted [for me]. I feel blown away, I can’t believe it. It’s been the most amazing experience.”

TV presenter Vernon was voted off the show earlier in the episode as he landed in third place, leaving the race for a winner between Giovanna and BBC Radio 1 DJ Jordan.

And speaking after the result was announced, runner-up Jordan said: “I feel absolutely fantastic, I couldn’t have lost to anybody better. You totally deserve this, and … she’s the most genuine, kindest person I’ve ever met, and yeah. She deserves this. Congratulations.”

Giovanna became a fan favourite during her time in camp as she became known as “Mamma Gi” because of the way she would always look out for her campmates.

And although she used to view being the “mumsy one” in a friend group as a “negative thing”, Giovanna - who has three sons, Buzz, six, Buddy, four, and two-year-old Max, with her husband Tom Fletcher - now knows her traits make her strong.

Speaking before she was crowned the winner, she told show hosts Ant and Dec: “I’ve laughed so so so much. It’s been more than I ever thought it would be. It really has. I feel like [I proved myself], I didn’t flinch at many things.

“It’s funny because even before kids, I was just naturally maternal, that’s always been the thing I know I am. Interestingly, it was having a kid that made me question that. But it’s a natural thing, and whereas I’ve always thought being the mumsy one was negative, it’s not.”
