Gino D'Acampo hates watching himself on television.
The celebrity chef - who rose to fame after appearing as a regular cook on ITV’s ‘This Morning' – admitted that he isn’t actually a fan of sitting down in front of TV because it makes him feel like he's got "nothing better to do".
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: “"I never watched 'I'm A Celebrity'... and I was on the show about 10 years ago. For me, watching television means I've got nothing better to do with my life - and I like so many other things.
"When I do watch, I like things I have already seen, like the 'Godfather' trilogy, 'Only Fools And Horses' or Marvel movies. I've never watched 'Gordon, Gino and Fred' - I was there!"
He admitted he would he too critical of himself if he did watch his own shows, and he doesn't want to convince himself to "change".
He explained: "When you watch yourself on television you criticise yourself and change.
"I like to be who I am and if you don’t like me that’s fine. People have a choice when one of my shows is on, they can change the channel if they don’t want to watch it.”
Gino - who has three kids with wife Jessica Stellina Morrison – is no stranger when it comes to TV as he’s appeared in hit shows from the likes of ‘Celebrity Juice’ and ‘Family Fortunes’ to Gino’s Italian Escape’ and ‘Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip’.
The star's latest cookbook - 'Gino's Italian Family Adventures: Easy Recipes the Whole Family Will Love' - is out now, but he's already looking ahead to his next one.
He said: "Next year I've been commissioned a new cookbook to write and I'm going to open five new restaurants.
"I like six months of holiday and six months of work.
"If I could wish myself something for next year it's to carry on with what I do. But without COVID if it's possible."
