Geri Halliwell is wanted to represented the UK in this year's 'Eurovision Song Contest'.

Former Spice Girls singer Geri Halliwell is the BBC's top choice to represent the UK in this year's 'Eurovision Song Contest' and they are said to be hoping she will agree to compete in the annual competition.

The former Spice Girls singer is topping the BBC's list of performers they'd like to compete in the annual competition, and it is said they are now hoping she will accept the offer.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: "Geri seems like a perfect fit for 'Eurovision'.

"She's up for a laugh and not afraid to camp things up - it's now a case of whether she is as up for it as the BBC is.

"If she wins she would be hailed as a legend but if she doesn't score highly it could be another embarrassing moment."

The final of the annual event - which sees singers from across Europe compete for their country - will be hosted by last year's winners Denmark and take place in May, and the BBC insist a decision hasn't yet been made on who will represent the UK.

A spokesman said: "The BBC is passionate about our involvement in the 'Eurovision Song Contest' and we are collaborating with creative experts across the UK music industry to select this year's entry.

"A decision has not been made. We will make an announcement in due course."
