Georgia May Foote is "excited" about taking on new parts once she leaves 'Coronation Street'.
The 24-year-old actress recently announced she is quitting her role as Katy Armstrong after four-and-a-half years on the soap and although she is "sad" to be walking away from such a great show she can't wait to take on new challenges.
Discussing her departure on 'This Morning', she said: "I'm very excited. I'm a bit sad as well, obviously I'm going to miss loads of people, the crew, the production team, my cast mates and all that, but I'm ready. It's been nearly five years now so it's a long stint to do there and I'm excited."
Georgia's character Katy will ditch the cobbles of Weatherfield for the sunshine of Portugal with her son Joseph after reconciling with her absent mother Linda Armstrong - played by former 'EastEnders' star Jacqueline Leonard.
She makes her decision after discovering her dad Owen Armstrong secretly prevented Katy and her sister Izzy from having a relationship with their mum.
When quizzed by hosts Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley
on how she will leave, Georgia said: "Katy does have a chat with Linda and (her sister) Izzy then finds out the truth and it literally flips ... Katy then goes off to Portugal, she waves goodbye."
At the end of the interview, Georgia was surprised with a cake and flowers to mark her 24th birthday today (11.02.15).
Thanking Phillip and Christine for the gifts, she gushed: "The cake's got my name on it and everything! Thank you, that's made my day. I'm so lucky!"
