MTV has today announced the arrival of a new Geordie Shore series which will see some fan-favourite faces making their return to the much-loved reality TV show, which is currently in its 12th year.
The ultimate Geordie throwback is on its way, as original cast members Charlotte Crosby, Holly Hagan, Sophie Kasaei and Marnie Simpson set off on a mission to organise the biggest Geordie Shore reunion event yet, in a landmark series that will likely be as entertaining as it is surprisingly emotional.
"I always said I would be up for taking part in a reunion show and made no secret that Geordie Shore holds a special place in my heart," said Charlotte. "I'm very excited to reconnect and reminisce with my favourite people and life-long friends."
Holly added: "I'm super excited to be back filming with everyone from over the years. It's going to be something really special to have everyone in the same room together."
With the arrival of Marnie's baby, a long-awaited wedding, a group holiday and of course, a return to the Geordie Shore house which is celebrated by a huge party, there won't be a single minute long-time fans will want to miss.
"I'm so excited for this reunion," said Marnie. "It's something me and so many of the other cast members have been waiting for, I'm so intrigued to watch it all play out, I have no idea how it's going to go or what's going to happen but I'm so ready for it. Bring it on!"
Sophie's also excited to be back with her family, and said: "Seeing all the friends that turned into family and had such a big impact on my twenties is going to be emotional but also like nothing has changed, apart from our age and families. It's a moment I've been waiting for."
Of course, it wouldn't be Geordie Shore without some drama... MTV promise there will be "dramatic confrontations" alongside the usual hilarious antics, as old faces, newbies and all of those in-between take on the Toon, with some surprise additions along the way.
As a huge fan of everything reality TV, I couldn't be more excited to see what the Geordie Shore OGs have got up their sleeves for audiences when they make their long-awaited comeback.
The show was a huge part of my college and university years, keeping me entertained whilst I plugged away at assignments, reminding me that there was more to life than thousands of written words on a computer screen.
Whether you're a fan of Geordie Shore or not, it's important to remember the positive impact it has had on those watching, encouraging you to let your hair down and have a good time, because life's too short to dwell on the unchangeable.
The Geordie Shore reunion series is coming to MTV and Paramount+ later this year.
