The MTV bosses have decided to spruce up the show - which stars Chloe Ferry, Nathan Henry and Abbie Holborn - for the upcoming series which will see the housemates paired up with some fresh faces as the producers worried the series could be "boring" as they won't be able to go clubbing due to the coronavirus.

A source told The Sun's Bizarre TV column: “With the 'Geordie Shore' 10-year reunion on hold, MTV decided to put out a normal series to fill the schedule.

"And while the usual cast are raring to go, there are concerns about how they are going to fill the time with just them. Because of the ongoing restrictions, they can’t go on wild nights out like they used to.

“And the idea of having them locked up in the 'Geordie Shore' house screams "boring". One idea which has been well received involves bringing outsiders into the house.”

MTV will ensure all the housemates are tested and undergone a two-week quarantine before entering the house in case there are a few sparks and the housemates are free to do as they please.

The insider added: “All of the cast going in are single and it could be perfect to pair them up with some hot new friends, with the idea that romance could blossom. It’s a bit like the way 'Celebs Go Dating' filmed their last series, with single stars being paired up with their matches in a luxury house. For 'Geordie Shore', it means their cast can still ‘tash on’ with some gorgeous singletons – just in the house rather than in nightclubs and bars like they normally would.

"The show’s stars would be quarantining, and so would the individuals going into the house, so filming could be totally COVID secure and safe. Everyone just wants to get filming underway and get a series on air for the fans.”
