The former 'Only Way is Essex' star is said to be "very excited" about the possibility of replacing Sinitta as Mama Morton in the musical, and though she hasn't yet signed a contract as there are still "issues to be ironed out", she is expected to do so this week.
A source told the Sun on Sunday newspaper's Bizarre column: “Gemma has been in secret talks about playing Mama Morton for some time and is very excited about the opportunity.
“She has not signed anything yet as there are still issues to be ironed out with the agreement. But all being well, she will sign in the coming days.
“Gemma is the ultimate TV diva. So who better to play Mama Morton — the Chicago prison mistress who rules the roost?
“She seemed a natural fit for the role. And as fans of Gemma will know, she has a fantastic voice.”
The 41-year-old star - who is engaged to Rami Hawash - recently reveals her daily routine includes dancing naked in her garden because she finds it "liberating".
She said: "I love to dance naked in my back garden. I do it every morning. It makes me feel at one with nature. It's so liberating.
"I love the feeling of the grass under my feet."
The reality star wasn’t worried about being seen thanks to the 100 trees she planted to block the view of the nosy neighbours.
And the GC has also admitted she loves to "hug a tree" to ease any feelings of stress.
She added: "Whenever I get stressed, I hug a tree. It's all about the energy.
"It makes me feel grounded. I like a good 20 minutes with a tree."
