The former 'The Only Way is Essex' star - who quit the reality TV show last year - believes she's now on the straight and narrow after taking part in the new Channel Five show 'In Therapy' featuring counsellor Mandy Saligari.

Speaking on 'This Morning' on Monday (04.07.16), she said: "So many things were out of my control in my life. I took a massive step back, I took control of it.

"And with regards to when you first become famous, I became famous, and then you get people saying this is what you're gonna do and this is how you're gonna do it. We're gonna do this we're gonna do that.

"You end up getting confused losing yourself and doing things for money. And then you stand back - because it all becomes about money. She [Mandy] made me realise 'enough is enough Gemma. Stand back and take responsibility for your own life and take control back'."

The 35-year-old beauty believes the show has saved her life but admitted she wasn't initially open to the idea.

She explained: "When I first went in there I said to Mandy like, 'Let's just do this quick there's nothing wrong with me', then literally by the second session I just surrendered and said, 'Please help me.' I was so scared, because with therapy you think 'there's nothing wrong with me' but with Mandy has a way of getting everything out of you."

Although Gemma is thrilled she's competed the sessions with Mandy, which sees her open up about her tragic miscarriage four years ago and her on-going battle with her weight, she's nervous about the show airing this week.

She said: "The show was suggested to me and I thought, 'Do you know what, I'm just gonna be totally honest. But I'm very nervous, because I've been so honest. Even my mum said 'Oh my God Gemma what have you said on that show.' But in order to turn my life around I needed to, in order to get back on the right track."

'In Therapy' airs on Channel 5 on Tuesday (05.07.16).
