Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez do not want a massive wedding
The former 'Hollyoaks' actress has been engaged to 'Strictly Come Dancing' professional Gorka Márquez. since 2021 and has three-year-old daughter Mia with him but while the pair have started the process of wedding planning, Gemma has insisted that a "glitzy" ceremony is the last thing they want.
She said: "We've started the process, although very laid back and very casually. We are slowly cracking on with it, but we've just been so laid back, it's untrue.
"I'm the most chilled bride because as long as it's just close family and friends, we wouldn't want anything big. We know we don't want a massive, big, glitzy occasion, just something nice and chilled."
The 37-year-old star went on to explain that while she and Gorka will not be following in the footsteps of 'Strictly' professionals Janette Manrara and Aljaz Skorjanec -who staged three weddings in three different countries in an effort to appease different family members - the couple would like to buy a home in Gorka's native Spain after the nuptials.
Gemma told HELLO Magazine: "We went for lunch with them and Janette said: 'We had one in Miami, one in Slovenia, and one in England.' And I said: 'How was it?' And she went: “Don't do it!, It's too much hassle. Just do one and we'll be there.'! But that's the next venture, buying a house over there so Gorka's family are able to drive and see us. Mia can count to ten and she says 'hello' and 'goodbye' and 'thank you' in Spanish!"
