Gary Lineker wants to live a “less complicated life”.
The ‘Match of the Day’ presenter appreciated the slower pace during the coronavirus lockdown and has learned to keep things “simple” by having a regular routine and various time-saving measures in place.
He told BANG Showbiz: “Lockdown made me realise that life before it was becoming increasingly busy, with lots of work and social commitments but no time for myself.
“Naturally as you get a bit older you want to live a less complicated life. I keep things simple by having a clear routine that I stick to, with time carved out for me.
“I like finding little life hacks, or anything that helps cut down the time it takes to do things, and I no longer agree to things I don't want to.
“I don't want faff, I want straightforward and to the point. Varifocals are the are a great example of that, why would I have two pairs of glasses if I can have one that enables me to do multiple things.”
Although Gary turned 60 last year, he still feels “great”, though he’s accepted the way ageing has started to take a toll on his body.
He explained: “I’m feeling great. I’m happy, healthy and keen to embrace life as much as I always have.
“Yes, like everyone, you start noticing aging in places, but I’m in good shape .
“I started noticing a real change in my eyesight a couple of years ago. When working I kept swapping between reading my massive handwritten notes, to looking at guests who were blurry and having to use different pairs of glasses to do so. It was complicated and tiresome and I had knew I had to do something about it.
“However, my health has always been a big focus and priority for me and it continues to be so. I ensure I look after myself by working out each day - whether I like it or not - have regular GP check-ups, and ensure I’ve got the simple things in place like having glasses with the right prescription and wearing SPF daily.”
Gary Lineker’s latest Vision Express campaign demonstrates how you can simplify overcomplicated everyday moments with both style and sophistication. The new Varifocals Edit, containing six pairs of glasses handpicked by Gary himself, is available both online at https://www.visionexpress.com/blog/2021/gary-lineker-varifocals and in-store from 15 September.
