Gary Lineker is determined that his new gameshow 'Sitting on a Fortune' will be better than Ian Wright's rival programm 'Moneyball.'
The former England player's new game show gives players the chance to win up to £100,000 but fellow footballer Ian Wright recently launched a show which boasts a top prize of £250,000 - something that has annoyed Gary.
Speaking on 'This Morning', Lineker said: "Yeah but how often will they win it [the £250k jackpot]? How often do people win substantial amounts of money on my show? The only thing I care out is having a better show than Wrighty!”
The 'Match of the Day' presenter's new venture will launch on ITV on Sunday (07.11.21) and the format will see six players take turns sitting at the front of a row of chairs where they will have the chance to answer a question worth up to £100,00 in a format that he says promises "instant jeopardy."
Gary explained: "In the first bit we've got six and we need to get to three for the final. The person who answers the third question correctly goes through to the final and the person in the back chair goes home so there's instant jeopardy. "
The 60-year-old star then went on to elaborate on the format to 'This Morning' hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
Gary said: "At the end, it's really good. You've got seven questions and you start with £100,000. If you get a question right it stays at £100,000 and it's all about who answers the last question - if you're in the chair at the right time...it's really exciting and it's feel good and I loved doing it."
It comes after Lineker's fellow pundit Ian Wright launched 'Moneyball' on ITV at the weekend, which has a similar high-risk theme.
In a statement, Wright said: "Look who’s got a brand new game show! From the moment ITV got in touch with the idea, I was hooked and there was no way I could’ve said no to Moneyball. It’s exhilarating, fun, dramatic, everything you want from a game show."
