Gary Lineker says scoring goals is “way better than sex”.
The ‘Match of the Day’ presenter - who bagged 48 times for England - believes the “euphoria” which comes from hitting the back of the net "lasts longer" than when he gets jiggy with it in the bedroom.
Speaking about watching his former side Leicester score an FA Cup final winner, the 61-year-old former footballer - who retired in 1992 - said: “Leicester scoring a winner in the FA Cup final was way better than sex.
“It kind of lasts longer. The euphoria lasts longer.”
Gary left his presenting role at BT Sport to follow the East Midlands team's progress in the Europa League this season alongside his sons George, 29, Harry, 27, Tobias, 25, and Angus, 23, as he says the high is something you cannot “replace”.
He quipped: “The only thing you can never replace is the scoring of a big goal.”
But he admits Gary scoring a goal is so precious because each one could be your last.
Speaking on the ‘Famous Sloping Pitch’ podcast, he said: "Scoring a goal … people use that silly thing, ‘Oh is it better than sex?’ You can’t have it any time you want but you can kind of know you’re going to have sex at some point.
"Whereas you don’t know if you’re ever going to score again.”
Recently, ‘Sitting on A Fortune’ host Gary admitted it is "much more fun" presenting game shows than being a football pundit.
He said: "Asking the questions is much more fun … when you’re a pundit you have to give opinions, and as a contestant there’s the pressure of looking like a fool when you get something easy wrong.
"I’m much happier asking the questions."
