A 94-year-old man has progressed to 'The X Factor' Boot Camp after impressing the judges.
The pensioner, called Bill - who uses a walking stick to get around - appeared at the talent show's Wembley Arena auditions as part of 10-piece group The Nostalgics, who wowed panellists Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh with their rendition of Katy Perry's 'Firework'.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "The X Factor's had contestants from all different walks of life and of many different ages but Bill is definitely the oldest.
"I'm sure we've never had anyone who had a pacemaker fitted days before auditioning.
"It's incredible The Nostalgics got through to boot camp although they'll be in for a culture shock.
"That stage of the competition is traditionally the most rowdy and raucous, with all-night boozing, music and bed-hopping.
"The producers might have to put The Nostalgics into a different part of the hotel. Having said that, if their audition is anything to go by, they may well want to get involved in the action and have a good time.
"They could go really far in the competition as bands have traditionally done very well.
"That said, you can't really compare them to 1D."
As well as Bill, The Nostalgics are also made up of a woman called Cynthia, who still managed to attend this week's audition despite having a pacemaker fitted last weekend, and organ player Betty.
Following the group's performance, Louis told them: "It is great to see you all sing in harmony. It is fantastic. I loved the song and the sound. I loved everything about it."
Gary said: "I want to know the name of the woman on the organ.
"Is it Elton? Oh, it's Betty. I love Betty on the organ. Betty, you got everybody up. Well done."
