Gary Barlow threw a chair across the room at 'The X Factor' auditions.
The singer - who sits on the show's judging panel alongside Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne - showed off his wild side in a bid to motivate a wannabe rock star after a lacklustre audition.
The judges were said to be disappointed with the contestant's rendition of 'Let Me Entertain You' by Robbie Williams at auditions in London's ExCel Arena this week and sent him home, however, the Take That star had a change of heart and invited him back for the next round - but only if he showed some "passion".
A source told The Sun newspaper: "The judges didn't like him at first because he claimed to be a rocker but just didn't have anything wild about him.
"He came on, strummed his guitar and sang along and then just faded out. They asked him back in and Gary told him he had to be more of a rocker if he wanted to get anywhere on the show."
The 42-year-old judge then shocked his fellow judges by giving the 'X Factor' hopeful an example of the theatrics he wanted to see, smashing his coffee mug and flinging his chair across the room.
The source added: "He then stood up and tried to tip the desk over shouting, 'Like this', but it was screwed to the ground. So he picked up a mug and smashed it then grabbed his seat and sent it flying.
"He turned to this poor wannabe and said, 'I want to see some passion. Rock music is about passion and you aren't giving us any.'
"Everyone just looked at him with open jaws, not knowing whether to laugh or cry."
