The former 'Pop Idol' star is one of the final five contestants who has made it through to the finale of the tough competition and the episode sees the group - which also includes Danielle Lloyd, Matt Hancock, Perri Shakes-Drayton and Teddy Soares - captured by an elite force, stripped of their belongings and placed in detention ahead of being quizzed by a specialist team, and the 'Anyone Of Us' hitmaker admitted the process was "torture".
Speaking on Sunday's (05.11.23) episode after his interrogation, Gareth said: “It was definitely the worst experience of my life. I haven't ever felt pain like it.
"When you are held in those stress positions for hours, it’s torture.
"I've seen the show and I've watched it on the screen but you just aren't able to understand the pain of holding those positions, which look so simple.
"Also, these noises that they put in your ears, you become extremely anxious.
"It isn't just the coupling of the physical pain of the stress positions with the anxiousness. The sounds make you feel awful, it really is unbearable. It was really horrendous.”
Ahead of the phase, the 39-year-old pop star was feeling more optimistic, insisting he'd think of his 14-year-old daughter Missy - who he has with ex-wife Suzanne Mole - urging him on and admitting he felt he was "hardened" to any verbal abuse he might experience.
He said: “Whenever I feel in a dark place, I just always think of my beautiful daughter’s face, smiling at me saying, ‘You can do this, daddy!’ And I think that’s going to be my main source of inspiration.
"I’m really not looking forward to interrogation. However, over the years I’ve had lots of experience of it. I have verbal abuse constantly, almost every day of my life, and so I’m certainly hardened to that.”
