As one of the most iconic horror franchises of all time, The Exorcist is something that found critical acclaim and fame when William Freidkin decided to adapt it in 1973 for the big screen.
Going on to win multiple awards and accolades, the movie still holds ground as one of the scariest and unsettling to-date, and now FOX are hoping to get a slice of that pie by ordering up a pilot episode of a potential television series based on the classic.
Screenwriter Jeremy Slater has been picked up for the show and he will also act as executive producer, alongside Barbara Wall, David Robinson and James Robinson who will team to pen the first episode.
The news comes after it was revealed The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman would be bringing another show to the small screen in the form of Outcast, based on the comic title by Kirkman and Paul Azaceta of the same name.
Outcast follows young Kyle Barnes who's plagued by demonic possession throughout his life, and now with the help of Reverend Anderson, embarks on a personal journey to find answers and hopefully regain some of the normality his life really needs.
There's no news yet on when either of the shows will be coming to screens.
