Jack Carroll has joined the cast of 'Coronation Street'.
The 25-year-old comedian became known for making light of his cerebral palsy as part of his act on 'Britain's Got Talent' in 2013 and has now been cast in the role of Bobby, who is the nephew of established character Carla Barlow (Alison King).
He said: "I’m delighted and honoured to be playing a part in the history of the cultural institution that is 'Coronation Street'. I hope Bobby brings viewers a lot of laughs in the vein of some of the street’s classic comedy characters." '
Since finishing as runner-up behind shadow theatre group Attraction on the ITV1 talent show, Jack has appeared on 'Live at the Apollo' and 'Sunday Night at the Palladium'.
As an actor, Jack has appeared in two episodes of 'Doctors' and played the regular role of Harry in the Sky One sitcom 'Trollied' from 2014 until 2018.
Earlier this year, he worked on BBC Three short film 'Mobility' and explained that the drama was different to anything else on television because its cast was made up entirely of disabled actors.
He told BBC Newsbeat: "I would say the kind of key difference with Mobility is that it's an ensemble piece featuring multiple disabled characters. I think when disability gets portrayed on screen, it's usually one person [who] experiences a disability and then a bunch of able-bodied people react into that, but this is an all-disabled cast.
"And I think that's something new and something hopefully that will end up being pretty important. Nobody can play a pompous young adult with a disability better than me! I've got a lot of experience at it! There's not just one type of disability, there's absolutely loads."
