James Haviland, 63, of Basingstoke, Hampshire, last week admitted stalking Fern without fear, alarm or distress at Bodmin Magistrates Court, Cornwall, which covered a period from November 2021 to September 2023.

According to The Sun newspaper, he stayed in her village, near Padstow, Cornall, four times, and rented her holiday cottage.

Haviland was reported to police when he tried to book her cottage again.

Prosecutor Samantha Rogers said: "Over a prolonged period he sent flowers, stayed in a particular village moving closer to where she lives and staying in a cottage that she owns."

Earlier this year, Fern - who hosted 'This Morning' alongside Phillip Schofield from 2002 until 2009 - appeared in 'Celebrity Big Brother', and admitted afterwards she signed up for the show because she wanted an "adventure".

She said on 'This Morning': "I could do with an adventure, and I haven't had an adventure for a little while. I quite like feeling uncomfortable and I thought I'd give it a go. Before you go in, you are kept for about 36 hours - it feels like days on end - in a hotel room with a chaperone. No phone, no watch, no television, no radio, no book.

"I did sneak out now and then to just walk the corridor. So I was already spaced out. The game had started in all of our heads by getting us confused in our heads."

Fern finished fifth overall in the series, behind 'X Factor' judge Louis Walsh, 'Coronation Street' actor Colson Smith, 'Strictly Come Dancing' professional Nikita Kuzmin and reality star winner David Potts.
