Faye Brookes has joined the cast of 'Chicago The Musical'.
The former 'Coronation Street' actress - who played Kate Connor on the ITV soap - will play Roxie Hart, and she has described the part as "an absolute dream role".
She wrote on Twitter: "It’s an absolute dream role…
"The job I’ve always wanted has landed on this lucky girl’s lap! (sic)"
Faye will appear alongside Sinitta, who will star as Mama Morton, and drag queen Divina de Campo will portray Mary Sunshine.
Other stars confirmed for the 2021/22 UK tour run of the musical are Djalenga Scott as Velma Kelly, and Joel Montague will play Amos Hart.
Faye - who is currently competing in 'Dancing on Ice', and will take part in the final on Sunday (14.03.21) - departed 'Corrie' in 2019, but she was pleased her character wasn't killed off and hinted she would like to return to the world of musical theatre.
She added: "I'm really grateful to 'Corrie' for leaving it open ended because it means I could come back, but I might go on to do more television. Who knows if I could go back to my old roots of theatre?"
The actress first announced her exit in April 2019, as she explained her character "needs a break for a little while".
She tweeted at the time: "Thanks to everyone for your amazing support, but after 4 fabulous years in Weatherfield it's time for me to explore new opportunities, I've loved playing Kate Connor, but she needs a break for a little while and so with a song in my heart I'm off to pastures new. #kana #corrie (sic)"
