Faye Brookes says she and Gareth Gates will "never take each other for granted again".
The 'Coronation Street' actress and the singer went their separate ways last September following a six-year relationship but they got back together and he popped the question in January, and the 31-year-old star cannot wait to tie the knot.
Quizzed on their previous split, she said: "It was for the right reasons for sure. I feel like we'll never take each other for granted ever again.
"Work took over and we ended up missing each other so much that we were missing life together.
"We are enjoying engagement but obviously I've been dreaming of this [wedding] day since I was a little girl."
Faye - who plays Kate Connor on the cobbles - admits Gareth "pulled it out of the bag" when it came to her proposal, which included him performing a 17-minute song.
She said: "He's always been a gentleman from the moment I met him. He planned the whole thing behind my back, which I was thrilled about because I love surprises.
"He had my whole family involved. My brother went down to London to collect the ring, everything was planned to a tee.
"He's a perfectionist and it didn't go unmissed. He really did pull it out of the bag."
And Faye's alter-ego Kate is all set marry her fiancée Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia), but Weatherfield is set to be rocked by the Underworld factory roof collapsing in devastating scenes this week - and the star admits it has looked like a "zombie apocalypse" in the staff canteen.
Speaking on 'Lorriane', she added: "It has been so crazy at work watching the two different storylines going on. Imagine us all in the canteen, you've got me and Bhavna sat there in our frocks and all of the wedding guests glammed up.
"Then you've got the zombie apocalypse on the other side with everyone covered in dust and cuts and blood.
"It's been amazing and I'm so excited for 'Corrie' viewers to see what they've put together this week."
