Arabella Weir says losing her “sex drive” has "been the best thing that’s ever happened to me after my children
The ‘Two Doors Down’ actress has compared her dip in her libido to “being unchained from a maniac” as she no longer feels the urge to chase the approval of men and can direct her energy into her work and other parts of her life.
Arabella says the gradual loss of libido began after she separated from her husband Jeremy Norton, 55, in 2013 after 20 years of marriage and she decided not get a boyfriend.
Speaking on the 'How to Be 60 with Kaye Adams' podcast, the 65-year-old funny woman said: “Losing my sex drive has got to have been the best thing that’s ever happened to me after my children; it’s brilliant. It’s like being unchained from a maniac.
“I was very promiscuous, I loved having sex and I loved the feeling of boys fancying me and reeling them in. Looking back a hefty amount of that must have been trying to feel loved, but a lot of it was also very nice sex and that was great. But now I don’t want a f*** and I couldn’t give a f***!"
"When I was divorced in my mid-50s, the first thing I thought was, 'I’ve got to get a boyfriend and I’ve got to go on Tinder.’ And then I thought, 'What if I don’t?’"
The former 'Fast Show' star wasn’t “lonely” when she split from Jeremy - with whom she has son Archie, 24, and 25-year-old daughter Isabella - and decided that she didn't need a long-term partner to validate her life.
She explained: "I was still up for a bit of sex at that time, but I thought again. I was a financially independent person, with a lot of great friends, so for me there was never a question of being lonely. But I suddenly thought, 'Do I really want to do this again?'"
