'Emmerdale' was named Soap of the Year at the TRIC Awards in London on Tuesday (13.03.18).
The ITV series continued its fine run of success against rival shows 'Coronation Street', 'Hollyoaks' and 'EastEnders' by being selected as the recipient of the prestigious prize at the ceremony held at London's Grosvenor House hotel in Park Lane.
'Emmerdale' star Ryan Hawley made it a double success for the soap at the event as he was named Best Soap Actor for his portrayal of Robert Sugden too, beating 'Corrie' stars Lucy Fallon and Connor McIntyre, who completed the shortlist for their portrayals of Bethany Platt and Pat Phelan respectively.
Ryan was congratulated on his gong by the 'Emmerdale' Press Team who logged on to their official Twitter account to share a photo of the small screen heartthrob at the bash along with the caption "Yay Ryan Hawley won!"
'Emmerdale' has been the favourite of prize givers in recent months and the village-set drama was crowned Best Soap at the National Television Awards back in January.
Elsewhere at the annual TRIC Awards - which were created by the Television, Radio and Industries Club and first took place in 1969 to "promote goodwill in the television and radio industries" - Dermot O'Leary was named Radio Personality of the Year, Best News Presenter was Eamonn Holmes and Suranne Jones scooped the Best Drama Performance statuette.
Ant & Dec were the recipients of the TV Personality of the Year prize and Dermot couldn't resist taking a light-hearted swipe at his rivals when he collected his gong, admitting he was grateful the duo "don't do radio".
ITV daytime show 'This Morning' received a special award to recognise the show's 30 years on air.
