Jonny McPherson doesn't think he could go back to life in a "normal house" after four years living on a narrowboat.
The 'Emmerdale' actor - who has played doctor Liam Cavanagh in the soap since 2014 - has lived on a houseboat which he calls ‘Benedict' since 2017.
Speaking on ITV's 'Lorraine', he said: "Everything you need. That's the thing, after living on it for about four years, I now feel like if I go to a normal house, I'm just like, 'What do you do with all this space? There's so much!'
"Basically, it's seven foot wide, a narrowboat - a traditional, English narrowboat. So, obviously I can barely stick my arms out and it's got a six foot cabin height so I can just about get on my tiptoes.
"You've got a living area for watching telly or whatever, you've got a place to eat, you've got a kitchen and a bedroom.
"And that's it! That's all you need! The beautiful thing about living on a boat is if you get annoyed with your neighbours, you can just cast off and chug down the way!"
Although, the 39-year-old star admitted one drawback is suffering from “low level anxiety” when it comes to fear of running out of water.
He added: "I suppose it's the constant low level anxiety - when you've got a permanent mooring it's fine because you've got everything on tap, but if you're chugging about, then you've got this low level anxiety of, 'How much water have I got left? Maybe I've got one shower and a couple of pots of tea, and then I've got enough electricity to last me maybe half a day, so I've got to get to the next services within half a day, but I haven't got time because I'm at work'.
"That kind of stuff can get boring!"
