Fiona Wade has hinted 'Emmerdale' fans will "see a different side" to Priya Sharma.
The 41-year-old actress - who has appeared on the ITV show since 2011 - has opened up on how her alter ego could react if or when she finds out about Al Chapman's (Michael Wildman) affair with a mystery woman.
She told Digital Spy: "She is definitely not a walkover, I think Priya is a strong woman. She is a single working mum who helps run a business.
"She has been hurt before – so she is a woman who has been through it, so it's not new to her.
"She will be heartbroken but we shouldn't underestimate that she's a strong woman. She won't take anything lying down – so you might see a different side to her."
Fiona didn't want to give too much away about the storyline, and while viewers have seen Al exchanging phone calls and texts with an unknown woman, her alter ego remains in the dark.
Asked if there might be a showdown between the two women, the soap star added: "You'll have to wait and see but I can't say too much.
"It's definitely going to be different and maybe a bit unexpected. Priya is a strong woman now, so whatever happens, it will be dramatic. I can't really say."
Meanwhile, Michael - who has portrayed Al since August last year - has promised fans that the identity will be "worth the wait".
He recently said: "It’s going to be such a big thing - I can’t even hint towards who it can be. It’s worth the wait.
"As things escalate, that’s where the game comes in for him and that’s where he thrives. He doesn’t set out to be like that but it continues because of this excitement for him. Playing a game is what he does.
"As it moves on and becomes more difficult, the more he secretly enjoys it."
