'Emmerdale' bosses are planning to build a new barn in the village and blow it up in an explosive new stunt.
The ITV soap's producers filed a planning application for the new structure, which will include some "specialist 'breakaway' stunt material", and it will then be "deliberately destroyed" for the stunt.
The application, obtained by The Sun Online, states: "We will use structural timbers, with the addition of some specialist ‘breakaway’ stunt material, in some areas, to ensure the maximum visual impact & the highest level of safety."
News of the planned dramatic scenes comes after producer Laura Shaw revealed at least one character will suffer "tragedy" in an upcoming stunt.
She said: "I can't say much more about that, but what I can tell you is that ultimately this story will end in tragedy for at least one of our characters - but the question is who?"
In August 2015, 'Emmerdale' played out a huge stunt when a helicopter crashed into the village hall, resulting in the death of Ruby Haswell (Alicia Eyo).
Kate Oates, who was the soap's producer at the time, admitted former 'Bad Girls' star Alicia was a "complete professional" when told her character was tragically going to meet her maker as a result of the stunt.
She said: "She is a complete professional and the kind of actor who has done various shows, different theatre, she was in 'Bad Girls' for such a long time.
"She was brilliant, and then she just gave that her all."
The crash came on Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) and Pete Barton's (Anthony Quinlan) wedding day.
