'Emmerdale' air its first-ever all female special to mark International Women's Day next week.
The ITV soap has announced that it will feature an all-female cast from the Dales in an exclusive episode on March 8 to "celebrate" women's rights and the television industry seeing more females undertake behind-the-scenes roles.
The show's producer, Kate Brooks said: "The industry has always been male-dominated, and we want to celebrate that more women are taking jobs in the crew, camera and sound departments.
"We also want to demonstrate the fact that we can produce as show that's led by an all-female cast. We wanted to make sure that we told storied from all different female perspectives.
"We have a real range of actors in this episode, from our youngest, Amelia Flanagan [April] right through to stalwarts of the show like Liz Estensen, who plays Diane.
"We celebrate women in all their messy glory. However, there's still a shortage of female camera and boom-operators, and we want to show that these jobs are for women - so please come on board!"
The storyline will see Chas Dingle, played by Lucy Pargeter, bond with Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) after she reveals some huge news that she has been keeping to herself.
Lucy added: "Chas bonds with Laurel over some news. They are not two characters who normally make time for each other, so it was lovely working with Charlotte [Laurel]."
Also, the March special will see Charity - played by Emma Atkins - make a decision that will have an impact on her life in future episodes.
Emma said: "Charity is on a mission an although I can't give anything away, her scenes will have a significant impact going forward. I really enjoyed filming these scenes. They were beautifully written, and I was honoured to play a role in this episode."
