Former ‘Emmerdale’ star Charley Webb has opened up for the first time about her exit from the show - one year on.
The 33-year-old actress - who first played Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap in 2002 - has confirmed she has left the show for good, after last appearing in the Dales a year ago.
When asked in an Instagram Q&A if she has left 'Emmerdale', she wrote: "This is always my most asked question but I've never answered it before because I've never wanted to make a big deal of it.
"I left to have Ace 2 years ago. I went back at the end of last year for 10 weeks to complete a storyline.
"So, I guess officially it's been a year. I never felt the need to announce it which is why we didn't. (sic)"
A spokeswoman for 'Emmerdale' confirmed that there are “no current plans for Debbie Dingle to return”.
Last July, Charley's husband and 'Emmerdale' co-star Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe) admitted she wouldn't return to the soap while COVID restrictions were still in place.
He said at the time: "She went back for 10 weeks over Christmas for a big storyline and then she finished again.
"To be honest filming there at the moment with COVID regulations is tough.
"Me and Paige [Sandhu], who plays Meena [Jutla] have spent the last year setting up a relationship where we're never more than two metres, we've filmed with masks on and it's difficult.
“Everyone's rallied round and made it what it is. But yeah. I think for her to go back now when all this is still happening is not what she wants to do.
"I think she'll wait until all the restrictions have dropped."
