Emma Raducanu has been voted as the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2021.
The teenage tennis sensation won the US Open to end Britain's 44-year wait for a female Grand Slam singles champion as has now been recognised in the annual BBC ceremony.
Olympians Tom Daley and Adam Peaty placed second and third respectively in the public vote while Raheem Sterling, Tyson Fury and Dame Sarah Storey were also shortlisted for the prize.
Raducanu said: "It's such an honour just to be among these nominees. Congrats to you and all your achievements.
"I'm really happy with this, I've watched Sports Personality of the Year growing up and it's an honour to be among those past winners.
"I'm happy for British tennis as well, and that we've managed to get this award...again!
"Thanks to all the fans and voters, this year has been insane. The energy this year playing at Wimbledon in front of my home crowd, that was something I've never felt before."
Raducanu came to the public's attention following a dramatic run to the last 16 of Wimbledon in the summer before going even better in New York - where she became the first qualifier in the Open Era of tennis to win a Grand Slam event.
Other winners on the night included Gareth Southgate and the England men's football team who took home the Team and Coach of the Year gongs.
Meanwhile, jockey Rachel Blackmore won the World Sport Star gong while gymnast Simone Biles took home the Lifetime Achievement award.
