'Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model' contestant Emily Garner felt the competition unearthed her body insecurities.

The 18-year old army cadet instructor, who was eliminated from the Sky Living HD show last night (25.07.13), admitted her confidence gradually plummeted over the series, partly because living together with her fellow female contestants made her more conscious about her appearance.

Emily exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I think that my confidence definitely went downhill as the weeks went on.

"I did find myself finding a lot of insecurities about myself, things that I thought I'd come to terms with, but had actually become more apparent in that environment.

"In the real world I'm confident, but being in the house I was aware that I was constantly being judged on way I looked.

"I go to work with no make-up and it doesn't bother me. But in the house, if I wasn't wearing makeup, I'd feel conscious because everyone else was and I'd feel like I'd need to put make-up on.

"In the army we're all in the same uniform - we all look the same. It doesn't matter what we look like as long as we get the job done."

Emily broke down in tears last week shortly before she was due to go on set for the competition's nude photoshoot, but she insists her insecurities weren't as bad until that point.

She added: "I think if the nude photoshoot was a few weeks earlier I wouldn't have been as reluctant as I was, but after spending all that time with the girls I'd become a lot more self-conscious. By the time the shoot came around I had lost a lot of my confidence."

'Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model' airs Thursdays on Sky Living HD at 9pm.
