Emily Atack "became very protective" over the 'Singletown' contestants.
The 29-year-old star co-hosts the new dating show - which sees five couples move to London and split to date new people before choosing between single life or going back to their partner - with comedian Joel Dommett, 34, and she admitted they both "definitely" felt a duty of care towards the people taking part.
She told RadiTimes.com: "Joel and I, we became very protective over them. We've been through the dating scene, and I think everyone can relate to a break up.
"I think me and Joel made good mentors as we could talk them through the dos and don'ts of a break-up, because a break-up is the hardest thing in the world.
"We're kind of their pals, essentially, getting them to feel good about themselves again, getting them dressed up and sending them on a date. We're like wingmen, really!"
The 'Inbetweeners' actress insisted the upcoming ITV2 show has "more emotion" than programmes like 'Love Island' because of the added stakes.
She explained: "I was shocked at their bravery. It was really interesting how they matured. Some of these people had been couples for year, and they're going in completely single, so there's a lot more emotion attached to it. But it's brilliant to date in London, it's a really sexy city."
Meanwhile, Emily recently described her boyfriend Rob Jowers - who she's been romancing for around six months - as the man [she's] been waiting for".
She said: "[Rob] is the man I have been waiting for. I feel very lucky. I think that timing is everything - and I think that I have met Rob at a time when I am ready to get into a relationship again."
