Emily Atack refuses to be pitied for her single status.
The 30-year-old Inbetweeners' actress and her last boyfriend, film executive Rob Jowers, split in September but Emily is sick of people who think there is something wrong with her for not being in a relationship.
She fumed on Twitter: "People constantly say to me 'how are you still single!?' - I think they mean well and that's cool. But being single shouldn't be seen as negative! I became single by choice. Let's stop making women feel like they're failing if they aren't in a relationship! (sic)."
Although Emily appeared to claim that she ended the relationship, it was previously believed that the pair called time on their romance after six months of dating after realising things weren't right between them.
A source said at the time: "Emily and Rob were enjoying a honeymoon phase in their relationship with lots of fancy dates and extravagant weekends abroad.
"But when the dust settled they realised it just wasn't right. The split was mutual and they are both really sad about it and remain friends.
"Emily's enjoying one of the busiest times in her career so wants to give all she can to the exciting work opportunities coming her way.
"She's throwing herself into upcoming projects and remains positive."
The pair met at Jack Whitehall's Brit Awards after-party in February 2019 and Emily previously called Rob the man of her dreams.
She said: "[Rob] is the man I have been waiting for. I feel very lucky. I think that timing is everything - and I think that I have met Rob at a time when I am ready to get into a relationship again.
"I feel like I have learned from all the other things. So far, we have had the most wonderful trip to Paris and we are going to Spain.
"I have had loving relationships and I've had toxic ones - and I now feel that I have got a good sense of what it takes to make a good one. It has been only six months but we are really happy and we are enjoying each other. I hope I am in it for the long haul."
