A 10-episode straight-to-series order has been made by NBC for 'Emerald City' - a new show that will be based on the classic Frank L. Baum books responsible for 'The Wizard of Oz' and 'Wicked'.
Executive producers are writer Matt Arnold and Josh Friedman, who will tell the reimagined tale like never before.
Dramatic and modern, the series will feature "lethal warriors, competing kingdoms and the infamous wizard as we've never seen him before."
Dorothy will also be completely different to the young Miss Gale we all know and love, as a headstrong 20 year old is shocked to find herself sent on a journey that sees her end up in the middle of a bloody and ferocious battle for the control of Oz.
Also given the greenlight were eight episodes of the miniseries 'The Slap', based on the book of the same name and the critically-acclaimed Australian project that aired in 2011.
Jon Robin Baitz has written the show - a "complex" family drama where one man slaps a misbehaving minor who is the son of another couple.
The domestic dispute begins to pull the family apart and long-held secrets are brought to light, as well as a lawsuit that challenges the values of everyone involved.
