The 22-year-old actress is best known for portraying Faye Windass in 'Coronation Street', but she left the ITV1 soap earlier this year, and she has now swapped the cobbles for the ballroom.

News of Ellie's latest role was revealed on Wednesday morning (09.08.23) on 'BBC Breakfast'.

She said: "It still doesn’t feel real that I’m going to be doing 'Strictly'!

"It’s always been a dream of mine so I guess dreams really do come true!"

Ellie was named as the 10th celebrity to sign up for this year's series, and just minutes later Paralympic champion swimmer and cyclist Jody was revealed as the 11th star confirmed for this year's series.

He said: "Excited to be welcomed into the 'Strictly' family and throw myself head first into the world of ballroom dancing.

"So far away from what I’m used to, but I’m looking forward to the challenge and pushing myself way out of my comfort zone, especially as I’m always last onto the dance floor.

"Can’t wait to get stuck in, bring on the glitter and sequins!"

Ellie and Jody will join former 'Emmerdale' star Adam Thomas, BBC Asian Network's Nikita Kanda, 'The One Show' presenter Angela Scanlon, 'Sherlock' actress Amanda Abbington, broadcaster Angela Rippon, West End star Layton Williams, Channel 4 newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy, 'Love Island' star Zara McDermott, and comedian Eddie Kadi in this year's 'Strictly' line up.

After it was revealed on Tuesday (08.08.23) she had signed up for the show, Nikita said: "I can’t believe I’m going to be on 'Strictly'. This is a dream come true. I’m still pinching myself.

"I don’t think it will properly sink in until I step onto the dancefloor. "I can’t wait to get glammed up and get out there. Throw the glitter on me!"
