Ellie Leach thinks 'Coronation Street' filming has worked "so well" amid the coronavirus pandemic, because it is safer on the cobbles than in the supermarket.
The 19-year-old actress - who plays Faye Windass on the ITV soap - feels fortunate to have been able to work amid the global health crisis, and she insisted it is "so safe" in the studio because the cast and crew are kept two metres apart at all times.
She said: "We're so lucky to be able to still work, and it's so safe.
"You go to a supermarket and people are leaning over you.
"Whereas, at work we're not allowed near each other. We have to stay two metres apart at all times.
"I think that's why it's worked so well."
Ellie appears alongside her cousin Brooke Vincent - who is currently on maternity leave, as she is pregnant with her second child - on the cobbles.
And she "couldn't stop crying" when the 28-year-old star asked her to be her son Mexx's godmother.
Ellie said: "She bought me a little bracelet and inside it said, 'Auntie El, will you be my godmother?'
"She gave it to me on Christmas Day in 2019. I couldn't stop crying. I couldn't believe it.
"I've hardly seen him and he's grown up so much since the last time I saw him.
"Hopefully we'll get over this soon, and everything will be back to normal."
Last night (18.01.21), Faye confessed to the police that she attacked Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) after mistaking him for Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) - but Ellie admitted she is not leaving Weatherfield for good anytime soon.
Speaking to 'Lorraine', she added: "I'm not going anywhere for the time being."
