Netflix and Warner Bros. are for the first time teaming up to bring viewers a high-end animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss' classic children's book Green Eggs and Ham, with Ellen DeGeneres serving as executive producer for Warner Bros. Television alongside Jeff Kleeman, Mike Karz, Jared Stern and David Dobkin.

Stern has previous credits on Disney movies The Princess and The Frog and Wreck-It-Ralph and is currently working on the sequel to the critically-acclaimed The Lego Movie, and now he'll be writing all 13 episodes of the new Green Eggs and Ham adaptation.

Standoffish inventor Guy and companion Sam-I-Am are to be followed in the series on an adventurous road trip where they do their best to try and learn new things.

DeGeneres is currently only on-board to produce and has no plans to voice a character, instead focusing on her voice work in Finding Nemo sequel, Finding Dory.

Ellen announced the news earlier this week during the taping of her talk show.

Meanwhile, Deadline have reported that the path to production was long for Stern for the series, as he originally pitched an idea for a feature film to Warner Bros. before beginning development on the project with Dobkin, Kleeman and Karz. When that fell through, Kleeman took the pitch with him to his new position as the head of DeGeneres' company A Very Good Production.

Reimagined as a television serious and taken out only to Netflix, Green Eggs and Ham came to fruition and it's now being reported that the making of each episode could cost up to $6 million.
