'EastEnders' was the big winner at this year's Inside Soap Awards, scooping six prizes.
The BBC One show won the coveted Best Soap prize at the ceremony at London's Salsa Temple on Monday (25.09.23), and the programme also landed the Best Actress and Best Actor accolades, which went to Danielle Harold and Jamie Borthwick.
Danielle and Jamie were at the centre of her late character Lola Pearce-Brown's tragic brain tumour storyline, as was Isabella Brown, who won Best Young Performer at the event for her portrayal of Lola's daughter Lexi Pearce.
Max Bowden, who won Soap Superstar Of The Year at the ceremony, was also involved in the hard-hitting Loving and losing Lola plot, which scooped the Best Storyline gong on the night.
Inside Soap editor Gary Gillatt said: "The beautifully played story of young mum Lola's cancer diagnosis, and her final few life-affirming months, captivated Inside Soap readers this year, and won out against powerful work from all the other shows.
"And the Best Soap win is well-deserved. It's been a golden year for 'EastEnders' - a true renaissance."
A post on the 'EastEnders' X account read: "WE’VE WON BEST SOAP at The Inside Soap Awards -2023!! Huge thank you to everyone who voted for us. We’ll be raising a pint in The Queen Vic tonight! #EastEnders (sic)"
'Coronation Street' picked up a hat-trick of awards on the night, including Best Comic Performance for Maureen Lipman, who plays cobbles battle-axe Evelyn Plummer.
Channique Sterling-Brown took home the Best Newcomer accolade for her portrayal of Weatherfield's Dee-Dee Bailey, and Todd Boyce won Best Villain for his performance as Stephen Reid.
Other triumphs included 'Strictly Come Dancing' star Nigel Harman, who won Best Drama Star for playing Casualty's Max Cristie.
What's more, 'Doctors' actor Chris Walker (Rob Hollins) triumphed in the Best Daytime Star category and former 'Corrie' star and current 'Hollyoaks' actress Nikki Sanderson, who plays Maxine Minniver, won the Outstanding Achievement award.
