Lacey Turner has revealed Stacey Slater's "whole world freezes" when Kush Kazemi goes missing.
The 'EastEnders' actress has opened up on her character's New Year's Day (01.01.21) plot when Davood Ghadami's alter ego disappears with their young son Arthur after a proposition from Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton), who is unsettled over Martin's (James Bye) connection with ex-wife Stacey.
Lacey said: "I think it's quite early that morning that she's wondering where they are but then again this is Kush and he's a good guy and in her head she's trying not to worry.
"She's also got Martin telling her it's all fine too. When it gets past being him gone a while it's very worrying though – Stacey and Kat are frantic...
"Her whole world freezes in that moment. She's absolutely petrified because she knows that Kush could have some help and is wanting to avoid prison so he's trying to take him out of the country."
Meanwhile, things take a scarier turn when she gets in contact with Kush on the phone, but he issues a dark warning, which is "very out of character".
And Lacey noted that while Stacey and Kat (Jessie Wallace) "immediately suspect the worse", Martin takes a little longer to accept it.
The 32-year-old BBC soap star added: "I think she's more shocked, it's very out of character for Kush. But lately he hasn't really been himself.
"He's been gambling and lying about it all so who knows what he's capable of at the moment. Stacey would never forgive him though.
"I think Stacey and Kat immediately suspect the worst whereas it takes Martin a bit more time to come to terms with what his best friend might have done. It's really tough on them all."
