Jo Joyner has signed up to star in a new psychological thriller.
The 45-year-old actress is best known for playing the roles of Tanya Branning in the BBC soap opera 'EastEnders' and Mandy Carter in Channel 4 school drama 'Ackley Bridge' but has reportedly taken on the part of a woman whose life is turned upside down in upcoming series 'Under My Skin.'
A source told The Daily Star newspaper: "Jo is playing a woman who has the perfect family life on paper, with a loving husband and two beautiful version. But like any other family, there are cracks in their perfect veneer."
Little else is known about the upcoming drama series but the firner 'Waterloo Road' actress is said to be featuring alongside 'Hollyoaks' star Rachel Shenton - who played Mitzeee Minniver on the Channel 4 soap - and it will be filmed in Malta before airing on Channel 5 next year.
The news comes shortly after it was revealed that the broadcaster is also set to air a new drama titled 'Heat', which will star 'EastEnders' actor Danny Dyer , who announced earlier this year that he had quit his role as Mick Carter after nine years.
He said: "I can’t wait to get amongst this beautiful piece of work in Australia. I’ve always been intrigued
about working there. It’s my first gig since 'EastEnders'. 'Heat' has a powerful, dark script and strong Australian cast and crew. Let’s have it!”
The show is set during Australian bushfire season, with two families heading to a secluded property for a summer holiday, only for secrets and lies to begin to unravel.
Channel 5 began to launch original drama series back in 2019 with 'Cold Call' - which starred ex-'Corrie' actress Sally Lindsay as a woman who falls victim to a scam phone call - and earlier this year received acclaim for 'The Teacher', which saw Sheridan Smith star as a secondary school teacher caught up in a sex crime allegation.
