Jake Wood would love to see EastEnders' Max Branning and Stacey Fowler hook up again.
The Walford legend, who plays Max, enjoys shooting scenes opposite Lacey Turner - who is currently on maternity leave from the soap - and is hoping the script writers have something lined up for the two characters again.
He said: "Max will always be in love with Stacey and there is still a connection there.
"I'd love to see something happen between them again, and personally I enjoy doing scenes with Lacey. She's such a talented actor and a pleasure to work with."
Max and Stacey previously had an affair, and it was exposed in one of the soap's most dramatic Christmas Day episodes ever in 2007.
But at the moment, Max only has eyes for Stacey's best friend Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton), so much so he is to try to put a ring on it when he pops the question later this week.
However, Jake "isn't sure" proposing to Ruby is the "right thing to do".
He added to the RadioTimes.com: "At first, Stacey's take on them being together was because Ruby reminded Max of her.
"Maybe that's part of it, I'm not sure. Being with her does keep Max and Stacey connected which is important to him. But I think him and Ruby are a good match. His feelings for her are genuine and he's in a much happier place now.
"I'm not sure proposing is the right thing to do, but he's feeling insecure about the age gape and wants to show his commitment to her - before she runs off finds interest elsewhere."
