Dot Cotton has been voted the best British soap character of all time.
The 'EastEnders' legend - who was first played by June Brown in 1985 and enjoyed 35 years on Albert Square - has topped a survey of television fans across the country.
Jonathan Horsely, speaking for research and insights agency Perspectus Global - which commissioned the poll - said: "Dot Cotton represents the indomitable Great British spirit.
“Immediately identifiable, Dot is quite simply a cultural icon and a testament to what a fantastic and talented actress June Brown is.”
Dot was crowned the winner after 2,000 fans voted, with 'Coronation Street' icon Hilda Ogden - played by Jean Alexander - following in second place.
'EastEnders' brothers Phil (Steve McFadden) and Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) were joined by cobbles star Kate Ford's Tracy Barlow to round off the top five.
The rest of the top 10 was completed by Corrie's Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear), Queen Vic legend Peggy Mitchell (Dame Barbara Windsor), Jack (Bill Tarmey) and Vera Duckworth (Liz Dawn), and Leslie Grantham's Albert Square alter-ego Den Watts.
The likes of Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), Kim Tate (Claire King) and Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) narrowly missed out on the top 10, but still featured in the top 20 ranking.
Back in February, soap veteran June, 93, revealed she had left the show "for good" and she even snubbed the offer of a retainer contract which would allow her to return in the future.
She said at the time: "I don't want a retainer for 'EastEnders', I've left. I've left for good.
"I've sent her off to Ireland where she'll stay. I've left 'EastEnders.' I did make up a limerick. It's a bit dirty.
"I went back to do a good story. Alas and alack, when I got back it had gone up in smoke.
"I got a small part, a very small part. And that ended up as a big wet fart. Alas and alack, I will never go back."
