EastEnders' Davood Ghadami was "gutted" when Rakhee Thakrar left the soap.
The 33-year-old actor - who is known for playing handsome market stall holder Kush Kazemi in the long-running show - has admitted he feels lost without his on-screen wife, who played temperamental Shabnam Masood, following her shock departure from Albert Square last month.
He told Inside Soap magazine: "I was gutted when she left. Rakhee was one of the most professional and talented people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. We tried really hard to do our homework for all of the storylines we were part of, so we spent a lot of time together off the set as well as on it. I feel like I've lost a big piece from the puzzle that makes up my character. Everyone loved working with her, but I know she'll go on to do great things."
And Rakhee certainly looks set for big things as it's believed she'll step into the shoes of Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) and become the new companion of the Time Lord (Peter Capaldi) in 'Doctor Who' when the popular sci-fi series returns to screens next year.
A source said recently that auditions for the coveted role are taking place now but bosses already have their sights set on snapping up the 32-year-old actress.
And the brunette beauty's schedule should have no problem accommodating filming for the next series as it came just as she turned her back on the BBC One soap following two years on the show.
