EastEnders' Charlie Slater is set to die from a heart attack.
The loveable cabbie - portrayed by Derek Martin - is set to return to Albert Square in the New Year to patch up his relationship with his daughter Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) but little does he know the truth about the gobby market-stall holder's past will lead to him having a fatal cardiac arrest.
Charlie collapses after struggling to come to terms with the revelation that Kat has a son, who was taken away from her.
As the emotional brunette attempts to save her dad, Charlie asks her for forgiveness for their past strained relationship but it all becomes too much for her and she flees outside.
Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) then spots Kat and persuades her to go back inside, but it's too late and Charlie is pronounced dead by paramedics upon their arrival, according to the Radio Times magazine.
Not only will the death tear the slaters apart but it'll also wreak havoc for Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner) - who is battling with postpartum psychosis following the birth of her son - as she sees it as a sign her family is in danger.
Charlie first bounded into Walford in 2000 and left in 2011, but has returned several times for one-off occasions.
Over the past 15 years, the cheeky chap has found himself entangled in some of the show's most memorable storylines.
