Eamonn Holmes and his wife Ruth Langsford walked over London's Westminster Bridge as they made their way to the 'This Morning' studio on Friday (24.03.17) in order to pay their respects to those affected by the city's terror attack this week.
The presenting couple were determined to honour the people caught up in the devastating event on Wednesday (22.03.17), which saw a male extremist mow a group of people down with his car before he stabbed a police officer to death, by walking across the bridge in front of the cameras before fronting the show today.
Eamonn said: "On our way into work this morning, we thought we wanted to go there and walk over the bridge and reflect on what happened."
Ruth added: "It's extraordinary actually that it's opened so quickly and the buses were running and people were obviously going to work..."
Interjecting, the Irish presenter said: "I think it opened too quickly. I actually think out of decency they should have closed the pedestrian walkway, because we were walking past there and we knew where certain people were killed."
Ruth admitted she found it tough walking across the bridge after seeing what had unfolded just days earlier because she felt for the families of those killed.
She said: "Yes, I found it very difficult because you've seen such graphic photos (in the media) and I found it very hard and was thinking, if you were the family of those people who have been killed.
"But I was also talking to a photographer who was out there this morning and he said. No, I think it's good, it shows that we will not be beaten by these people."
Eamonn initially thought Ruth had been caught up in horrific attack but a lucky twist of fate meant she took a different route home that day and, subsequently, saved her life.
He said at the time: "Yesterday, I was speaking to my wife Ruth who had just finished on 'Loose Women' and she said: 'I'm just heading home now'.
"Her normal route home would be within three minutes to this bridge and across there and when the news broke later - because it took 10, 15 minutes for the news to come out - I thought: 'Where's Ruth?' And I couldn't get in touch with her!
"It turned out amazingly she went in a different direction, it was just some freaky chance she went in a different direction."
