Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have shared their joy at being reunited with their elderly mothers following the coronavirus lockdown.
The TV presenting couple - who will be back presenting 'This Morning' through the summer - have been separated from their beloved mums Josie, 92, and Joan, 88, due to quarantine restrictions across the UK and their were overjoyed to be able to see them in person again due to the easing of restrictions.
Ruth - whose mother Joan lives in a care home - told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "The first time she was back in my kitchen having a sherry and dance peeling veg was the best thing ever.
"Both of our mums are elderly now and these are their twilight years and you want to make them as special as you can and see them as much as you can.”
Ruth, 61, has admitted to being wracked with guilt if she doesn't telephone her mother at least twice a day.
She said: "I think it’s made us all realise the importance of loved ones and family when you couldn’t see them.”
Eamonn's mother Josie is a widow after his father Leonard died from a heart attack 30 years ago and he admits that it's been wonderful to get to spend time in person with her once again after so many months apart.
The 61-year-old television veteran said: "I think a lot of people felt that frustration. So to meet up with loved ones is everything.”
Eamonn and Ruth have been together for 25 years and have been married for the past 11 and he has shared the secrets of why they are so happy together.
He said: "There’s a huge amount of tolerance and a good dollop of humour that keeps you going.”
