Duncan James "forgot" about the cameras on 'Celebrity Gogglebox'.
The Blue singer, 44, teamed up with close friend and fellow West End star Denise Van Outen, 48, for a series of appearances on the celebrity version of the hit Channel 4 show - which films famous faces reacting to various television programmes - and he loved taking part because there was "no-one" from the production company in the living room.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "I think the thing about ‘Gogglebox’ that makes it work is it is just about being real. And I think doing it with Denise – who has been a mate of mine for 20 years – it’s me and her sitting in her front room watching TV together and having a little chat. There’s no pressure to feel like you need to be anything apart from yourself.
"What I love about ‘Gogglebox’ is that when you’re filming it, there’s nobody in the room with you. There’s no cameraman, there’s no crew, there’s no producer. You’re literally just sat there with your mate watching TV and it’s like ‘Big Brother’ syndrome and you forget you’re being filmed sometimes."
The former 'Dancing on Ice' star went on to explain that he and his co-star felt so comfortable shooting the fly-on-the-wall series that they would often start having a private conversation before realising they were being recorded, but he ultimately felt no "pressure" to be anything other than himself.
He added: "Me and Denise will just sit there having a chat while we’re waiting for them to put something on for us to watch and we’re like ‘Oh s***, we probably shouldn’t be talking about that, because we’ve got a bloody microphone on!’ You forget. It is really authentic and it’s very real and that’s what I like about it. That’s what was fun about it for me, was the relaxedness of it and the realness of it. It wasn’t contrived at all, it wasn’t set up, it wasn’t scripted and it was just very, very real. That, for me, was really nice. I didn’t feel the pressure of ‘What have I got to do?’ It was just nice sitting there with my mate having a chat with her. "
Duncan has reunited with his fellow 'All Rise' hitmakers, Antony Costa, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe, for a new album and arena tour.
Blue’s new album ‘Heart and Soul’ is out on 28th October and they tour the UK in December.
