Am action-packed new trailer for the 'Doctor Who' Christmas special shows the Time Lord joining forces with a masked superhero.
The trailer, which aired during the BBC's 'Children In Need' coverage on Friday (18.11.16), showed the programme's titular character - played by Peter Capaldi - come face-to-face with a gun-toting vigilante as he teamed up with an investigative journalist and a superhero to save New York City from a "deadly alien threat."
And Matt Lucas' character Nardole made a return to the show, joining the Doctor, Justin Chatwin's caped crusader The Ghost and Charity Wakefield as the investigative journalist Lucy.
'The Return of Doctor Mysterio' will air on BBC One on Christmas Day (25.12.16) and has been written by Steven Moffat, executive produced by Brian Minchin, and produced by Peter Bennett.
Ed Bazalgette directed the episode, which was shot in Cardiff at BBC Wales Roath Lock Studios.
Speaking previously about the special, Justin, who has starred in 'Orphan Black' and 'War of the Worlds', said: "Working with the amazing people at 'Doctor Who' has been one of the most fun and rewarding projects I've ever had the pleasure of being involved with."
And Moffat, Writer and Executive Producer, explained why he chose to feature a superhero on the show.
He said: "I've always loved superheroes and this Christmas Doctor Who dives into that world. My favourite superhero is Clark Kent. Not Superman, Clark Kent."
