Anton Du Beke is hoping the 'Strictly Come Dancing' special of 'DIY SOS' will "bring people together" through dance.
The 57-year-old dancer will join his co-stars from the BBC Latin and Ballroom competition as they team up with the broadcaster's DIY programme to bring some sparkle to a Performing Arts school in Wallsend, North Tyneside, as the experts transform a derelict old boys’ club into a creative home for True Colours, a charity which welcomes all children and young adults no matter their ability.
Anton said: "Myself, Katya and Graziano understand the power of dance and how it brings people together. This could really transform not just the building but the community too.
"What Alisar-Jane and her team is doing is very special. Myself, Katya and Graziano understand the power of dance and how it brings people together. This could really transform not just the building but the community too. We are thrilled to help out and bring some Strictly magic to the proceedings. And who knows, we may see a future 'Strictly' star in our midst!"
DIY expert and 'DIY SOS' presenter Nick Knowles is thrilled to be able to kick off the Big Build in a way that he is sure will "inspire" everyone from the charity, as he teams up with the stars from the Saturday night favourite.
He said: "We’re back, and what a way to kick off the Big Build with a brilliant group of Strictly stars that will inspire and delight the children, young adults and staff from True Colours."
The TV stars will have just six days to transform the hall - which had been disused for more than a decade - from a derelict building into an area that can be accessible for more than 200 people, complete with a spectacular dancefloor set for a grand finale performance.
'DIY SOS Strictly Special' will air on BBC One on Wednesday 30 August at 9pm.
