Nicola Coughlan has confirmed 'Derry Girls' will continue filming this year.
The 34-year-old actress - who plays Clare Devlin in the comedy - revealed production for the third series of the Channel 4 sitcom will go ahead later this year after it was previously halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
She wrote on Twitter: "Can confirm Series 3 of Derry Girls is filming this year and I cannae bloody wait.
"Covid has pushed back filming several times which has been so s****, but honestly the storylines in this series are the best we’ve ever done so I can’t tell you how worth it the wait will have been. (sic)"
The second series wrapped in 2019 with the third commissioned for 2020 - but production was postponed in June due to the pandemic.
It was shelved again in October when Northern Ireland faced a four-week circuit breaker lockdown.
Saoirse-Monica Jackson, who plays Erin, said at the time: "We’ve been pushed [filming] now a couple of times, and I think we are going to push again.
"It’s really important to us that we keep the authenticity of the show and that we don’t deliver any show that’s in any way a limited version. It’s important for us to shoot it at home [in Ireland].
"The north of Ireland, honestly, the numbers there are quite high at the moment. So until those numbers go down and they tell us it’s a safe environment for everybody to work on, we won’t be back on set filming together, which is quite sad."
The cast last got together for the second series in 2018, and they have remained close during their time apart.
Nicola said recently: "We made the second series back in 2018, so it's been a long time since we've been together filming. There's tentative dates when we hope to go back but we don't really know at the minute."
