Dermot O'Leary is being eyed to host 'Daybreak'.
ITV bosses are planning a major shakeup of their signature breakfast news show - which is currently hosted by Aled Jones and Lorraine Kelly - following poor ratings and have turned their attention to 'The X Factor' presenter after Eammon Holmes turned down the job.
Producers had hoped to lure Eammon, 54, away from his presenting job at Sky News and return to the early morning ITV slot he once fronted as host of 'Daybreak' predecessor 'GMTV'.
However, the presenter has opted to stay with Sky and ITV are now hoping to sign Dermot or BBC 'Breakfast' sports host Chris Hollins.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "The mission to hire new blood continues apace. Daybreak is a big problem.
"Chris would be ideal as he has bags of experience. Dermot may have no breakfast experience, but he's a favourite with ITV chiefs."
'Daybreak' has been plagued by poor ratings since its launch in 2010 and continually ranks behind its BBC rival.
Both Aled and Lorraine - who also hosts companion show 'Lorraine' - are reportedly set to exit the show in the latest shakeup.
