The 50-year-old former football star and the 'Hollyoaks' actor battled it out against Shappi Khorsandi and Rebekah Vardy in a race across the Australian bush during Monday's (27.11.17) episode of the ITV reality show, and despite it being a close call, it was the boys who won a hearty feast for their fellow male camp mates.

Dennis and Jamie had been awarded a five minute head start after the remaining boys - Stanley Johnson, Ian Lee, and Amir Khan - had won Sunday's (26.11.17) live trial against the rest of the girls, Jennie McAlpine, Georgia Toffolo, Vanessa White, and Kezia Dugdale.

The race saw each group take on challenges based on the four elements, with the pairs in the race first tasked with starting a fire to light lanterns.

The five minute head start served the boys well as they lit their kindling in no time at all, whilst Shappi and Becky were able to make up precious time as they got to work lighting their own fire.

In the second part of the trial, each team took on the air element, which consisted of abseiling down a rock face, picking up a flag of their colour - blue for boys and yellow for girls - along the way.

Again it was the boys who made short work of the task, although the girls caught up and weren't far behind.

Meanwhile, the earth element trial took place back in camp, with the remaining camp mates tasked with counting two piles of coloured stones in order to unlock a box containing a flag.

It was the girls who stormed to victory after having counted their stones in no time at all, which won Shappi and Becky a chance for victory in the final round of their challenge.

The water element trial saw the two pairs out in the bush pick up logs with keys attached, with the goal being to swim to a fallen tree where they'd find a locked box which one of their keys would open.

The girls had the advantage thanks to their team winning the trial back at camp, meaning they only had five keys to choose from, whilst the boys had 10.

But luck was with the boys, as the first key Jamie tried was the right one, and they were able to sail to victory whilst the girls trailed behind.

Returning to camp, the boys tucked into a feast of lamb shank, roast chicken, potatoes, corn, salad and fruit with an option of an alcoholic or fruit juice drink, whilst the girls were sadly left with rice and beans.

'I'm A Celeb...' airs daily at 9pm on ITV.
